7 day No-wilt warranty

7 day No-wilt warranty

Most of our customers tell us our roses last between 7 and 14 days, with some stating they get 3 weeks from them.

We off a 7 day warranty against head drooping, on the basis of RTF, (Return to Farm), provided some easy conditions are met.

These conditions are all to do with the availability of the stem to draw visually clean, uncontaminated water, and the location of the vase.

The vase

  1. Roses need to access lots of water, 12 long stem roses require at least 750ml of clean water initially.
  2. Use a glass vase so you can identify any developing contamination. (Algae, slime etc).
  3. If contamination occurs, remove the roses and flush the stem ends to flush away contaminants.
  4. Do not handle the stem section that will end up in the vase water otherwise you may re-contaminate the water.
  5. Use a second clean vase, or thoroughly clean the original vase, (see below), then fill it with 750ml tap water.
  6. Mix in commercial post harvest water conditioner.  (This is not rose food.  Cut flowers cannot use external food.
  7. Let them access lots of water, 12 long stem roses require at least 750ml of clean water initially.
  8. Top the water up daily to that volume.  12 roses can easily consume 50ml daily.
  9. Place the dirty vase in your dishwasher, or wash it with hot soapy water, then flush it thoroughly.
Never
  1. Leave them any cut flowers your car.
  2. Allow contamination of the stems or vase.
  3. Place in any heated area, stoves, ovens, radiators, direct sunlight and air containing used for heating.
  4. Place in areas of draught.
  5. Handle the stem section that will be under water.
  6. Crush the end of the stem.
  7. Dip the stem end in boiling water
  8. Add anything other than a commercial Post Harvest Solution to the water.
Always
  1. Use a sterile vase
  2. Ensure you clean your hands before handling the stems
  3. Ensure farm fresh flowers
  4. Use a water that you would be able to drink
  5. Add correct Post Harvest Solution
Here's what the flowers need for maximum vase life.
  1. The flower will need a steady supply of clean uncontaminated water.  If the stem draws less water than the flower needs, the flower will de-hydrate, and the head will droop.  This is terminal for the flower.
  2.  Add Post Harvest Solution (PHS) to the vase water and keep up the water supply.  It is always better to use more water than less.  Don't use a vase that is too small for the task.  Try to use at least 500ml for short roses and 1 litre per dozen for large long stemmed roses.
  3. PHS is a water conditioner.  It is not flower food.  Cut flowers cannot use any substance as food.
  4. Do not add sugar, lemonade etc. to the water. This only provides food for algae etc. The rose stem cannot process sugar,
  5. PHS adjusts the pH of the water and adds a small amount of biocide to suppress any water borne pathogens e.g., algae, that may form.
  6. If the stems are out of water for more than 5 minutes, re cut the stems at 45 degrees with a sharp knife.
  7. Use only a sterile vase, clean enough to drink from.
  8. Add correct amount of PHS
  9. Top up the vase often.  Cut flowers need a lot of water.  The more they consume the longer they will last and they can only consume visually clean, organically sterile water.  Typically, a dozen 50cm roses will use about 100 ml per day, depending on temperature and air flow.
  10. Generally speaking, when you purchase flowers from an unknown source, e.g. supermarket chain, roadside flower sellers etc. the flowers may have been in a cold room, or several cold rooms for weeks.  They have no chance of lasting more than a day or two outside that controlled environment.
